The start of the academic year

In a world of increasingly more complex challenges, it is more important than ever to provide ample scope for creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.
The university in particular is a place to allow for and encourage imagination and ambition. Whether the focus is on science, education or societal applications:
within the university we value zeal and creativity, both are indispensable when creating a better world. This year’s Opening Address will be delivered by Ms M. Bussemaker llm, Minister Of Education, Culture and Science.

Student Prizes

During the ceremony marking the start of the academic year, Utrecht University will award Student Prizes to two students who stand out for their excellence in their studies and in extra-curricular activities. The 2015 Prize for Best Graduate Thesis will be awarded to the student that wrote the best Master’s thesis. The 2015 Prize for Exceptional Extra-curricular or Social Achievements will be awarded to the student that excelled in student board and / or social activities. The Executive Board will present the winners of the Student Prizes with a trophy, a certificate and an amount of 1,500 Euros.
